The Boulder High Panthers kept their momentum rolling Thursday afternoon in Arizona, knocking off the Emmett Huskies 9-5 to secure their second win of the day and improve to 2-1 on the season.
Coming off a morning win over Glencoe, Boulder's bats stayed active and the Panthers once again showed a balanced approach at the plate, using patience, timely hitting, and aggressive baserunning to pull away.
Big Bats Lead the Way
Junior Sam Skubic delivered one of the standout performances of the young season, going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs to power the Panthers offense.
Senior Rowan Westfall continued his strong tournament, reaching base in three of four plate appearances while scoring two runs, swiping two bases, and driving in a run.
Boulder also got key contributions throughout the lineup. Senior Miles Love went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two stolen bases, while Finn Torvik added a hit, a double, and two runs scored. The Panthers finished with eight hits and drew eight walks, consistently putting pressure on the Emmett defense.
Pitching Locks It Down
On the mound, junior Kai Paradise delivered a strong outing, earning the win with four innings of work, allowing just one earned run on three hits while striking out five. Paradise settled the game down after Emmett threatened early and helped Boulder maintain control through the middle innings.
The Panthers used multiple arms throughout the game, with Teague Bagnall and Toby Schoenfeld also contributing on the mound to keep Emmett's offense in check.
Pulling Away Late
Boulder broke the game open with a three-run third inning, then added runs in the fourth and fifth before putting it away with another three-run burst in the sixth.
Emmett made a push with a four-run fifth inning to close the gap, but Boulder responded immediately and never let the momentum fully swing.
Clean Baseball, Complete Effort
The Panthers backed up their offense with flawless defense, turning a double play and committing no errors in the field. Combined with seven stolen bases, Boulder controlled the game in every phase.
The Takeaway
It was a complete team win for Boulder, showing growth and confidence just three games into the season. After a tough home-opening loss, the Panthers have now strung together back-to-back wins and are starting to find their rhythm.
Boulder will look to keep it rolling Friday when they take on Mountain Pointe at 1:00 PM as tournament play continues in Arizona.
