Boulder High Baseball showed fight and grit Thursday afternoon but came up just short in a 10-9 loss to rival Fairview at Fairview High.
Boulder jumped out to an early lead in the first inning thanks to a hard-hit double by Sam Skubic, who drove in two runs to make it 2-0. Fairview answered in the bottom half with a two-run homer by Cooper Neumann to tie the game.

Fairview pulled ahead in the third inning with a big rally, scoring seven runs on a string of base hits and agressive base running to make it 9-3.
But the Panthers didn't go away. Boulder started chipping away at the lead with clean singles, a sacrifice fly, and a few timely walks. By the end of the sixth inning, they had cut the lead to just one.
The seventh inning was quiet on both sides, and the Panthers' comeback came to an end, just one run shy.

Looking Ahead
Even though they didn't get the win, the Panthers showed heart and strong hitting. They'll look to carry that into their next game on Tuesday at Evanston.
