Silver Lining? Not Tonight.

The Boulder High School girls soccer team faced off against Silver Creek on Tuesday night. On a cool evening with threatening skies, the Panthers looked to keep their undefeated season alive.

Despite missing a few starters, Coach Carlos Real adjusted the lineup to maintain the high level of play the team has shown all season. Silver Creek, entering the game with a winning record, hoped to challenge Boulder—but the Panthers had other plans.

Boulder picked up right where they left off in their last match against Fairview, controlling possession from the back and applying steady pressure on the Silver Creek defense. Their strong ball movement paid off early when Kiri Fogarty-Sears fired a shot from about 25 yards out, scoring 7:30 into the first half. The unassisted goal gave Boulder a 1-0 lead.

The Panthers continued to press, and at the 18-minute mark, Mia DeJohn found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

After the second goal, the Panthers began to push a bit too hard. Rather than keeping even possession, they took risks that didn't quite connect. While Silver Creek wasn't able to capitalize offensively, Boulder's rhythm started to slip as rushed passes disrupted their usual flow. The half ended 2-0, and Coach Real used the break to refocus his team and guard against the dangers of a 2-0 lead.

Coming out in the second half, Boulder regained their composure. Crisp passing and smart movement returned as they looked to put the game away. At the 22-minute mark, Arya Nagrath fired a long shot from the right side that bounced inside the six-yard box, where Zoe Silver redirected it past the keeper to extend the lead to 3-0.

Just four minutes later, Maddy Moore struck from outside the box, beating the keeper to make it 4-0. At the 30-minute mark, Kiri Fogarty-Sears tallied her second goal of the night off an assist from Ane Mackey, bringing the score to 5-0.

As the clock wound down, frustration mounted for Silver Creek, resulting in increasingly aggressive fouls. The referee had to step in to keep the game under control. Then, with about two minutes left, Boulder earned a free kick after yet another foul. From 33 yards out on the right side, Mia DeJohn delivered a stunning strike that soared over the keeper and into the far post, sealing the 6-0 victory. She went down after the shot with a leg cramp, but smiled wide, knowing the team had accomplished its goal.

The Boulder defense recorded its fourth shutout of the season and has now conceded just two goals through six games—a testament to their organization and resilience at the back.

With the win, Boulder improves to 5-0-1 on the season. Their next match is Thursday, April 3 at 5 p.m. against Ralston Valley—another undefeated team and likely their biggest test of the season so far.
