Boys Basketball Edge Brighton in 67-63 Thriller

The Boulder High School Panthers boys' basketball team beat the Brighton Bulldogs 67-63 in a thrilling game on January 7, 2025. It was a tightly contested battle, with the Panthers building a strong lead early and holding off a late rally from the Bulldogs.

The Panthers led 16-14 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 41-26 by halftime, thanks to a combination of sharp shooting and defensive intensity. Brighton surged back in the second half, outscoring Boulder 19-16 in the third quarter and 18-10 in the fourth, but the Panthers held on to secure the win.

Key Performers:

  • Lake Smith: The junior guard was named Player of the Game, finishing with 14 points, including two three-pointers, while adding five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. His clutch performance on both ends of the court proved crucial to the Panthers' success.
  • Lewis Racine: The senior forward led the team in scoring with 17 points, shooting an impressive 62% from the field. He also grabbed six rebounds to contribute on the boards.
  • Dominic Trudgeon: A senior forward, Trudgeon was a force inside, collecting 14 rebounds while scoring nine points and dishing out six assists, showcasing his all-around impact.
  • Cole Morrow: the Senior added 11 points, including key buckets in the first half to help Boulder establish their early lead.

The Panthers dominated on the glass, securing 43 rebounds as a team, with Trudgeon and Racine leading the way. Defensively, the team also recorded six steals, disrupting Brighton's offensive flow throughout the game.

This win improves Boulder's overall record to 4-5 on the season. The Panthers will aim to build on this momentum as they prepare for an away game against Northglenn on January 9.
