The packed Fairview gym Thursday night set the stage for another heated chapter in the annual boys' basketball rivalry between Fairview and Boulder. Despite competing in separate conferences now, the intensity between the teams and their fans showed that this matchup still carries significant weight. While both teams played well, Fairview emerged with a 58-45 victory.
Lewis Racine
Boulder (6-7) put up a strong fight, with Lewis Racine leading the charge. Racine's career-high 21 points kept the Panthers competitive, particularly in the first half when they managed to keep Fairview's lead under nine points. Early in the second half, Cole Morrow's free throws brought Boulder within six points, giving the Panthers momentum.
Miles Lutt
Fairview quickly responded, however, with a decisive 9-0 run that shifted control firmly in their favor. While Boulder made efforts to close the gap, including a late three-pointer by Miles Lutt that brought them within seven points, the Knights' consistent defense and sharp shooting sealed the game. Fairview closed it out at the free throw line, ensuring the win in front of their energized home crowd.
Ezra Drace
Despite the loss, the Panthers displayed resilience and flashes of strong play. Boulder's determination kept them within reach for much of the game, but their struggles to maintain momentum after halftime proved to be a challenge. They'll look to regroup as they return to 6A/5A Rocky Mountain League play on Tuesday, hosting Riverdale Ridge at 6:30.
While both teams continue to focus on their respective goals, this game was a reminder of the passion and energy that defines one of Boulder's favorite rivalries.
