The Boulder High Panthers boys lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Prairie View 14–8 at Recht Field. After dropping their opener earlier in the week, Boulder responded with a balanced offensive performance and strong defensive stretches to even their record at 1–1.
From the opening faceoff, Boulder pushed the tempo and looked eager to get into rhythm offensively. Senior Artie Hoverstock led the charge, delivering a dominant performance with five goals to pace the Panthers attack.
Finn Mullen
Boulder's offense found contributions across the lineup. Senior Sam Milverstedt added three goals and an assist, while Finn Mullen finished with two goals and an assist. Senior Grady Allison played a key role as both a scorer and facilitator, recording two goals and two assists for a four-point afternoon. Senior Pierce Dayton chipped in a goal and an assist, and junior Bode Gwozdz added another score as Boulder steadily built its lead throughout the afternoon.
The Panthers were efficient with their opportunities, converting 14 goals on 23 total shots, including 21 shots on goal.
Toby Benham
While Boulder's offense generated the headlines, the defensive effort and goaltending helped control the game's flow. Senior goalkeeper Toby Benham played all 48 minutes in net and delivered a strong performance with 17 saves against 25 Prairie View shots on goal. Benham's stops in key moments helped Boulder maintain momentum whenever Prairie View attempted to close the gap.
Defensively, the Panthers were active around the ball, with Toby Benham and Trey Wright each collecting three ground balls, while Luke Rosenberg, Artie Hoverstock, and others contributed key possessions to help Boulder transition quickly into offense.
Prairie View continued to push throughout the game, but Boulder's depth and ball movement proved difficult to contain. The Panthers maintained control down the stretch, securing the 14–8 victory in front of the home crowd at Recht Field.
With the win, Boulder improves to 1–1 on the young season and gains momentum heading into the next stretch of games as the Panthers continue to build chemistry early in the schedule.
