Fresh off their first win of the season four days earlier, the Boulder High Panthers boys lacrosse team returned to Recht Field Wednesday night and delivered a dominant performance, rolling past the Mountain Range Mustangs 20–8.
Coming off the 14–8 victory over Prairie View on March 7, Boulder's offense came out firing and never slowed down. The Panthers moved the ball quickly, pushed the pace in transition, and piled up goals throughout the night to improve their record to 2–1.
Artie Hoverstock
Senior Artie Hoverstock led the attack with a big night, scoring six goals and adding an assist. Senior Pierce Dayton followed closely with five goals and an assist, while sophomore Landon Davis orchestrated the offense with an impressive three goals and five assists, finishing with a game-high eight points.
Boulder's depth was on full display. Senior Grady Allison added three goals, and senior Finn Mullen contributed two goals and four assists as the Panthers consistently found open cutters around the crease. Junior Bode Gwozdz also added a goal to round out the scoring.
Finn Mullen
The Panthers generated 43 total shots and 34 shots on goal, converting 20 of them in a high-powered offensive showing.
Boulder controlled the game in other key areas as well. At the faceoff X, Ryan Scarbrough and Landon Davis combined to win 17 of 23 draws, giving the Panthers consistent possession. Scarbrough won 10 faceoffs, while Davis added seven.
Defensively, Boulder was aggressive and active all over the field. Senior Trey Wright led the Panthers with 10 ground balls, helping Boulder dominate possession. Scarbrough added six ground balls, and Davis chipped in four, as the Panthers collected 33 ground balls as a team.
Toby Benham
In goal, senior Toby Benham played the full 48 minutes and made 10 saves on 18 Mountain Range shots on goal to secure the victory.
With the convincing win, the Panthers continue to build momentum early in the season and show signs of an offense capable of putting up big numbers.
Boulder will look to carry that momentum forward as the schedule continues in the coming weeks.
