On a warm Tuesday night at Recht Field, Boulder High boys varsity lacrosse pulled off a wild 13–12 overtime win against No. 15-ranked Heritage. The Eagles came in with a 7-1 record, but the Panthers weren't backing down.
It was a cold start for Boulder, who fell behind by as many as four goals in the first half. But the Panthers rallied and went into halftime down just 7–5.
In the second half, Boulder continued to fight, eventually tying the score at 9–9. But Heritage didn't go away. They pulled ahead again, and with 3:40 left in regulation, Boulder trailed by three goals. The outcome looked bleak—but the Panthers weren't done.
The inspired play by the defense was led by long-pole core: Koby Kaplan, Josh Maran, Luke Rosenberg, Trey Wright and Logan Stokes; as well as short-stick defensive middies Cole Morrow and Jackson Pirrit. Constantly harassing Heritage offense towards the end of the game, forcing multiple turnovers that led to the furious comeback.
Senior attacker Luke Nathan sparked the comeback with a goal to make it 10–12. Junior midfielder Grady Allison followed with another to make it 11–12. Then, with under 90 seconds left, Nathan tied it up at 12–12. Both teams had chances before the end of regulation, but it was headed to overtime.
Heritage won the faceoff and had early possession, but junior defender Trey Wright made a huge takeaway that flipped the momentum. He pushed the ball upfield, and Boulder caught the Heritage defense off guard. Nathan found junior Artie Hoverstock cutting on the crease—and Hoverstock finished it for the win.
