The Boulder Panthers varsity field hockey team faced a tough challenge on Tuesday, falling 3-0 to Palmer Ridge at home on Angevine Middle School's turf. Despite a promising start and a valiant defensive effort, the Panthers were unable to find the back of the net against the 10th-ranked Palmer Ridge squad.
A Strong Start but a Tough Finish
Boulder came out strong, showing determination early, but the match turned challenging as Palmer Ridge earned several penalty corners against the Panthers in the first half. Despite these pressures, goalkeeper Katie Ryan (Fairview) stood tall, making crucial saves to keep the game close. However, Palmer Ridge broke through midway through the first half, scoring three unanswered goals before halftime.

While trailing, Boulder showed resilience. Mid-fielder Caroline Clemensen (Fairview) was named Player of the Game for her tireless efforts along the right sideline, continuously fighting to regain possession and create chances for Boulder. Her hard work gave the Panthers moments of hope, but Palmer Ridge's defense was too strong to overcome.
Looking Ahead: A Chance to Bounce Back
Boulder's record now sits at 1-2-1 as the Panthers adjust to the challenges of their first full varsity season. The team will have a chance to bounce back next Monday, September 16th, when they travel to face Grandview. It's another tough matchup, but the Panthers are determined to regroup and fight for their second win of the season.
