Boulder High Cross Country Shines at 5A Colorado State Championships
Boulder High's Cross Country teams put in strong performances at the 5A Colorado State Championships held at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. With perfect running conditions, both the boys and girls teams raced hard against the top teams in the state, finishing with impressive team results.
Boys 5000 Meter Run:
The boys' team placed 4th overall with 158 points. They showed consistency with all five scoring runners finishing within 45 seconds of each other.
• Lucas Wik (11) led the boys, finishing 18th with a time of 16:04.60.
• Toby Wong (11) came in 22nd, running 16:07.20.
• Cooper Draves (11) finished 23rd, just behind Wong, at 16:07.40.
• Ulysses Paulsrud (11) placed 57th, with a time of 16:36.50.
• Jack Rhodes (10) rounded out the scoring in 71st place, finishing in 16:50.40.
Freshman Tyler Emdur gained valuable experience, finishing 139th with a time of 17:53.00, while Faolan Dougherty (11) placed 91st in 17:05.10.
Girls 5000 Meter Run:
The girls' team placed 6th overall with 164 points, with their top five runners finishing within 47 seconds of each other.
• Anika Leovy (11) was the top finisher for the girls, placing 25th in 18:43.28.
• Sophia Africa (10) finished 28th with a time of 18:47.19.
• Calia Vaughn (9) ran a strong race, placing 30th with 18:48.85.
• Rachel Tilton (11) came in 34th, finishing in 18:51.83.
• Lucy Friend (9) completed the scoring in 58th place with 19:30.58.
Senior Abby O'Leary placed 109th with a time of 20:31.06, and freshman Nora Quatrochi finished 87th with 20:04.47.
Team Highlights:
The boys' team's strong finishes earned them 4th place overall, while the girls' team took 6th place. Both teams showed their hard work and teamwork throughout the season.
