Boulder Golf Closes Strong Season

Boulder High School's boys golf team wrapped up a successful season in style at the 5A State Golf Tournament on October 7 at Commonground Golf Course in Aurora, CO. The Panthers, who were crowned league champions earlier this year, were led by sophomore Sam Skubic and freshman Pierce Johnson, both putting in strong efforts over the two-day event.

Sam Skubic, the standout for Boulder, finished in 22nd place with a total score of 144 (+2). He delivered a composed performance, opening with a 70 (-1) on day one, followed by a 74 (+3) on the final day.

Freshman Pierce Johnson showed promise for the future, placing 49th overall with a two-day total of 153 (+11). He posted rounds of 76 (+5) and 77 (+6), respectively, demonstrating resilience and a willingness to battle through tough conditions. Johnson's solid debut at the state tournament bodes well for Boulder's golf program as he continues to grow and develop.

The Panthers have much to celebrate this season, with the league championship under their belt and a strong showing at state. The experience gained at Commonground will undoubtedly serve as a valuable foundation for next year, as Skubic, Johnson, and the rest of the team aim to build on their achievements.

Boulder golf's 2024 season showcased a deep roster of young talent, and the future looks bright for the Panthers as they continue their pursuit of excellence. Next season, they'll be back on the course, looking to defend their league title and climb even higher in the state rankings.
