Boulder Softball rolled to a solid 10-3 win over the Prairie View Thunderhawks on Saturday at Prairie View High School, putting on a clinic in both hitting and defense.
The Panthers got their offense started in the second inning when Avery Stuhlbarg knocked in the first run with a sharp single. That opened the door for a steady stream of hits, with Boulder maintaining control throughout the game.
The real fireworks came in the top of the seventh inning, where the Panthers plated five runs on four hits to put the game out of reach. Ria Ushakova kicked things off with an RBI single, followed by a two-run knock from Lillian Vaughn. Channing Wheeler's double pushed another run across, and Stuhlbarg capped the inning by drawing a walk with the bases loaded for an RBI.
Vaughn not only helped at the plate but also earned the win on the mound. She pitched all seven innings, allowing 10 hits and three runs while striking out five and walking five. The Panthers' defense backed her up well, especially in the final inning when Keira Franke in left field, Ellie Jones at shortstop, and Sophie Jones behind the plate combined for a smooth double play to seal the victory.
At the plate, Boulder tallied 10 hits, with Ellie Jones, Ushakova, Vaughn, and Wheeler each contributing two apiece. Vaughn, Stuhlbarg, and Wheeler led the team with two RBIs each, while Stuhlbarg and Keira Franke showed patience, each drawing two walks.
