The Boulder High School track and field team put together a strong showing at the Coyote Invite on March 8 at Centaurus High School, highlighted by multiple top finishes across both sprint and distance events.
Girls' Highlights
- Sophia Africa dominated the 3200m, winning the event in 11:34.21. Teammate Rachel Tilton followed close behind in second place with a time of 11:45.89, giving Boulder a 1-2 finish in the event.
- Abby O'Leary ran an impressive 5:19.64 in the 1600m, securing second place in a strong field.
- Emilia Smouse placed 4th in the 800m with a time of 2:30.63, while Sadie Stokes (8th - 2:36.45) and Nora Quatrochi (10th - 2:39.99) finished in the top 10.
- Tenley Layne showed her speed in the 400m, finishing 3rd in 1:02.70, and also placed 5th in the 200m (27.26).
- The 4x200 relay team had a strong performance, finishing 2nd in 1:54.60.
- Leila Sagrillo competed in three events, finishing 14th in the 400m (1:11.42), 25th in the 200m (30.33), and 26th in the 100m (14.27).
- Keira LaHue placed 14th in the 100m with a time of 13.82.
Boys' Highlights
- Lucas Wik took 1st place in the 3200m, crossing the line in 9:58.44, while Toby Wong finished 2nd in 10:12.54, giving Boulder another 1-2 finish in the distance events.
- In the 1600m, Boulder had three runners finish within a second of each other, led by Ulysses Paulsrud (9th - 4:44.24), Jack Rhodes (10th - 4:44.29), and Cooper Draves (11th - 4:44.34).
- Andrew Gilbert had a big day, finishing 2nd in the high jump (6-0) and 4th in the 300m hurdles (42.93).
- Marial Marial led the sprints for Boulder, finishing 11th in the 200m (24.04) and 11th in the 400m (56.19).
- The 4x400 relay team secured 4th place with a time of 3:45.49.
- In field events, Luca Molina finished 9th in the shot put (41-10) and 14th in the discus (99-2), while Sebastian Dorman placed 9th in the discus (108-2) and 12th in the shot put (37-8).
Looking Ahead
